Privacy Policy

Updated January 31, 2016

Thank you for trusting MacBadger for repairs and advice. Your trust means a lot to us, and we work hard to earn it.

As part of your repair, you give us personal information. We safeguard your information the same way we’d want our own info treated. This means we will never spam you or let anther company use your personal info for marketing purposes.

Here’s how we collect, protect, and use your information:

Ask a MacBadger

When you ask us a question from our website or via email, you may provide your email address so we can respond to you. We use this email address to reply to your question and have a conversation with you. If you later set up a repair with us or start a new conversation, we can review your past conversations so you don’t have to repeat yourself.

After the conversation is over, we may email you to ask if our team did a good job helping you. We value customer service, and asking you how we did is a great way for us to deliver quality service.

Repairs

Communication is a vital part of every repair. Our MacBadgers stay in touch with you during your repair so you know what’s going on with your Mac.

If there’s a form of communication you prefer—for example, you never want phone calls, only texts—please let us know so we can update your account appropriately.

Repair satisfaction is very important to us. We may contact you once after your repair to ensure that you’re happy with our service. If something’s wrong, we want to make it right!

Phone Calls

When you call us or we call you, we may take notes about the conversation. These notes are shared with the MacBadgers assigned to your repair. If you haven’t yet set up a repair, the conversation notes will be linked to your telephone number. If you later set up a repair, we may review your past conversations with us.

During a phone call, you may be told that your call is recorded. Call recordings are used in case we need to confirm details of the conversation. Furthermore, recordings are useful to ensure that our MacBadgers are helping customers in a friendly manner.

In the event that you call us but we can’t answer, we may call or text you back as soon as a MacBadger is available.

Physical and Mailing Addresses

If we’re performing a repair at your home, office, or other location, we will use your address to travel to you.

If you request a repair with mail-in service, we will use your address to ship your computer back to you.

Even if you bring your computer to us, we still need your mailing address. In case you have not picked up your computer after some time and you are unreachable by phone or email, we are required to send you a certified letter asking you to pick it up. Under no other circumstance will we ever send mail to you that you didn’t explicitly request.

Website Activity

Our website does not have advertising from other companies, so you don’t need to worry about third-party trackers.

When you ask a MacBadger a question, our website may try to answer it automatically. We save information about the questions our customers ask so we may improve this feature.

We also keep track of the actions people take on our website: for example, clicking a link, sending a message, or beginning a repair. Our engineering team uses this data to make our website better.

Other Companies

In order to perform repairs and provide services, we may need to transmit specific information to other companies. Here’s a summary of other companies we rely on, with links to their privacy policies:

When a MacBadger travels to your location, he or she may use a navigation app like Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze to find you. We use Google Maps to calculate travel time between appointments.

We use Intercom to email and chat with our customers.

Cash, credit-card, and other payments are processed by Square. Your payment receipt might come from Square instead of directly from MacBadger.

We use Google Analytics and Intercom to keep track of the actions you take on our website.

If we help you arrange service with another company, we will need to transmit your product’s serial number to the company. Some companies also require that we transmit your name, email address, physical address, and phone number. Some companies will contact you directly to make sure you’re satisfied with the service they performed.
